I am a watercolour artist based in Kazungula, near the Chobe River in Botswana. Although born in England I grew up in Zambia and have lived in Botswana since 1980. I am largely self-taught and painted landscapes for many years but after moving up to Chobe with my husband I developed an interest in wildlife and conservation. Having avoided painting birds and animals for most of my life, I started to paint what I saw every day using my own photos and sketches as references. Being close to nature is very important to me and to sketch elephants over the fence while barefoot in my garden is a massive privilege and I am grateful every day to be living in this haven of peace.
