Lucy is a self-taught wildlife artist based in the UK. Her work seeks to raise awareness and support conservation projects around the world, bringing the beauty and wonder of wildlife into our homes. Lucy uses acrylic paints and combines fine detail work with looser brush strokes to create realistic portraits with a contemporary twist. Her work focuses on the expression and personality of each animal by removing it from its context and instead focusing on their eyes, expression and often movement. “To me wildlife art is about ‘reading between the lines’ of a photo, removing the habitat from the image removes any preconceptions, while the eyes are the windows into the soul and hence the most important part of evoking the story and character of each animal”. From a young age Lucy has worked hard to grow her skills and passion, enjoying the journey of each painting and how through every layer of paint they evolve into something unexpected.
