Andrew’s passion for painting stems from his love of wildlife, especially birds. Wildlife art has been dominated by the more 'handsome' species. Andrew strives to shine a light on the more unusual, often overlooked animals. Vultures have been a constant subject of his paintings & drawings, the fascinating textures and colours that few other birds possess suit his style and the importance of the survival of these amazing birds are an added incentive. Often Andrew uses real silver/gold leaf in his work allowing the paintings to be ever changing depending on the light. In 2019 Andrew made the leap from full-time employment as an architectural model maker to becoming an artist. In 2020, his oil painting ‘Wood Stork’ won him the ‘DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year’. He has since had pieces shortlisted in both the 2021 & ‘22 exhibitions.
